Station 09 – Reality Taboo

How an AI system sees the world.

The world that surrounds us is incredibly complex. The human brain takes in hundreds of thousands of impressions every second, and yet we are always able to fully perceive and analyze our surroundings. For AI systems, however, this complexity of reality poses a major challenge. The perception of these systems via sensors differs from human perception. In addition, machines do not have abstract concepts that play an important role in our perception of the world. Using a modified version of the game Taboo, the station shows how difficult it is to depict reality and make it comprehensible without abstract concepts.
